My Rating:

COMMENTS:

This nice album from 1974 contains Feliciano's last Top-100 hit to appear on thye US Charts: "Chico and the man". This song was used as the soundtrack for the TV series by the same name and reached widespread popularity, eventually being performed by such artists as Sammy Davis Jr. The album also contains a wonderful rendition of "Golden Lady", a Stevie Wonder song and, in my opinion, one of the best things ever recorded by Jose' Feliciano. I also like "Essence of your love", "Stay with me" and "Virgo". This last piece is noteworthy for being one of the few instrumental pieces recorded by Jose' on electric guitar.

Again to date american RCA don't release this wonderful song and Album on cd ! Please write them to request Feliciano classics on CD: BMG Special Products - Ms. Betty Ann Rizzo - 1540 Broadway - New York, NY 10036-4098 (USA)

ORIGINAL BILLBORAD REVIEW - RECOMMENDED

Originally reviewed for week ending 11/23/74

This is definitely the finest effort Feliciano has turned out in many years and this could be the one that returns him to the top of the charts. He includes a cross-section of material on this album that touches Stevie Wonder, "Chico and The Man," and many other high points. The guitar picking is back to its originality and his vocals are extremely soul-inspired. Best cuts: "Hard Times In El Barrio," "You're No Good," "Virgo," "Golden Lady," "Chico And The Man," "And The Feeling's Good," "Essence Of Your Love." Dealers: A must for in store play.
